45 minutes.

Overdramatised. Non-investigative. Presumptuous.

This 45-minute long interview with Paris Bennett is disappointing. Cinematically it feels pointless. There is a constant high-pitched slightly musical ringing throughout the documentary which, although quiet and simple, distracts from any genuine suspense, and makes the whole documentary overdramatized. The filming set up seems over complicated. There is unnecessary switching of angles Morgan and Paris, who remain stationary for the entire interview, making the whole interaction feel totally constructed. Furthermore, the separate rooms for Paris’s mother and for the professionals make this documentary feel like a reality TV show. More time should have been given to the experts rather than Morgan. Whilst Morgan is an experienced journalist, his questions lead nowhere and gained little insight. Almost every question seemed like an attempt to get a rise out of Paris and it is clear the documentary presents its opinion on Paris with no attempt to challenge it. The only insightful part of this documentary was the last 30 seconds between Paris and Morgan, where he reveals his genuine thoughts and that he is used to interviews like this and knows how to manipulate them for his own benefit. If Morgan and his team had scrapped this interview and conducted a second one along the lines of those last 30 seconds of interaction, this might have been a documentary worth watching.
