1 hour 35 minutes.
Uncomfortable. Intimate. Fascinating.
This incredibly intimate insight into the lives of the cousin and aunt of former First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis makes for an uncomfortable, but very interesting documentary. At 1 hour 35 minutes, and with a very direct method of filming, it is not easy viewing. However, it is fascinating. It follows the two women, who are living in their derelict house in East Hampton, New York. As celebrity relations of Jackie, their situation was exposed to the media, and consequently the Maysles brothers were invited in by the family to document it. The mother and daughter are both very eccentric, and at some times their actions feel more suited to a dramatic film than a documentary. The intimacy and exposure of the women in the film is what makes it uncomfortable to watch, and made me feel slightly voyeuristic. However, it is a fascinating insight into their relationship as mother and daughter in their unique situation. Watch if you have the time and concentration to spare.
