1 hour 48 minutes.

Engaging. Independent. Divisive.

This rollercoaster of a documentary follows a family in the aftermath of child sexual abuse allegations. The filmmaker makes sure never to lead the audience too long in one direction, leaving them to come entirely to their own conclusion. This film is unique due to its’ immense inclusion of family footage, which the Friedman family seems second to none at in archiving. Whereas some “true-crime” documentaries rely on reconstruction, the Friedman’s wealth of family footage creates a closeness between subject and audience. The film is engaging due to its position of conflicting testimonies one after another, reflecting the complexity of the idea of “truth” which is so often taken for granted as a simple and objective idea. Not just a documentary about “true-crime”, the film deeply investigates the family dynamics and relationships, making it a multi-dimensional documentary.
